I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and had great role models throughout my life who helped shape my career interest and my character. My mother was an educator. My father designed jet engines for General Electric and among numerous civic roles, was elected to the Cincinnati Public School Board in the ‘60’s. My parents demonstrated and instilled in me the virtues of dedication, perseverance, service, and excellence.

I have been married to Larry James, my college sweetheart, for 45 years.  We are blessed to have two sons and five grandchildren. Our son Aaron lives in Colorado with his wife and son. Our son Brandon and his wife live in Blue Ash and serve on numerous committees that support Sycamore Community Schools. They have four “Aviators” who are actively involved in a wide variety of opportunities offered by the district.

Thirty-three of my 37 years in public education were spent in Sycamore Schools, serving as a Teacher, Building Principal, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent. For the past six years, I have continued my love for education, working with numerous districts on special projects and providing executive coaching and professional development for school administrators, Superintendents, and Boards of Education.

With vested interest, solid experience, and deep roots in the community, I am eager to apply my expertise to keep our schools strong for the future.

Why I'm Running for the Board

Why I'm Running

for the Board

I am deeply passionate about education and ensuring that our youth are equipped with the skills necessary to navigate and compete in this ever-changing world. Sycamore is known for providing exemplary programs and curriculum that meet the needs of ALL students. Consequently, the district attracts residents who expect and support the exceptional opportunities found here. It is imperative that our schools remain robust and vibrant for our children and the community.

Board members are responsible for overseeing and supporting the continued success of this district. Throughout my 33 years of leadership in Sycamore, I effectively addressed key issues that  impacted our students, staff, and the community. I believe that my knowledge and experiences will add tremendous value to Board discussions as future decisions are made.

With vested interest, solid experience, and deep roots in the community, I am eager to help make decisions that keep our school system strong.

I am ever-mindful that when strong schools thrive, strong communities also thrive. This makes our district and our community hallmark destinations.
